Preface

On behalf of the International Advisory Board and the Local Organizing Committee of The International Congress in Honour of Professor Hari M. Srivastava, which was held in the Auditorium at the Campus of Uludağ University, Bursa, Turkey on August 23-26, 2012, and on our own behalves, we would like to express our happiness and gratitude to all the participants who attended and actively participated in our congress.

On August 21-23, 2008, The Twentieth International Congress of the Jangjeon Mathematical Society (of which Professor Hari M. Srivastava is a past president) was organized in Karinna Hotel at Mount Uludağ. The refereed proceedings of this congress were published in Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics and Proceedings of the Jangjeon Mathematical Society. One day during that congress, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Şimşek and Prof. Dr. İsmail Naci Cangül made a proposal to Prof. Dr. Hari M. Srivastava and his wife, Prof. Dr. Rekha Srivastava, to consider Uludağ University as one of the lucky Universities worldwide to organize a congress in honour of the seventieth birth anniversary of Prof. Dr. Hari M. Srivastava. Just about one year after that congress, we received a very kind e-mail from them, and we proudly organized The International Congress in Honour of Professor H. M. Srivastava on his 70th Birth Anniversary again in Karinna Hotel on August 18-21, 2010.

For years, Prof. Dr. Hari M. Srivastava has been professionally helping, working and collaborating with many Turkish mathematicians. This is one of the reasons that made us proud to organize such an international congress in Bursa. In that way, we hoped to be able to thank him, at least partially, for his support and contributions. The duly-refereed proceedings of this congress were published as a special volume of the Elsevier journal: Applied Mathematics and Computation, Volume 218, Number 3, Pages 651-1160 (2011).

Being joyful and proud of these two academic events, we organized The International Congress in Honour of Professor Hari M. Srivastava in the Auditorium at the Campus of Uludağ University, Bursa, Turkey on August 23-26, 2012, with the participation of over 250 mathematicians coming from over 30 countries. It is our great pleasure that the duly-refereed proceedings of this congress have been published in special volumes of four open access Springer journals, one of which is Boundary Value Problems. We especially thank the lead guest editor, Prof. Dr. Hari M. Srivastava, and the editorial and other personnel at SpringerOpen for their invaluable time spent in the editorial processing of a remarkably large number of papers which were submitted for publication in this Special Issue.

We should like to thank those nameless heroes (including the members of the International Scientific Advisory Committee and the Local Organizing Committee) who worked for months to make this four-day congress a rather successful and professionally fruitful event. We record here the names and institutional affiliations of the members of the International Scientific Advisory Committee and the Local Organizing Committee.

Many sponsors, too, helped and aided toward the success of the congress, and we express our sincere thanks to all of those sponsors. We also thank all the participants of the congress who helped us rather generously in making it a wonderful event, both academically and socially.
